Folks... HELP...

Anyone out-there have service experience with solid Ti-40Cb Rivets??? IF so, please describe Your experience... including installation, dissimilarity/corrosion potential, cracking, shear-strength, procurement/availability, etc.

The ones I am familiar with [by spec only] are NAS1097U*-*, MS20426T*-* and MS20470T*-*, Cherry "EZ-Buck" and Cherry "Hollow-end EZ-Buck" [BACR15GA*-*].

The C-17 uses these fasteners heavily in the Flap and Slat and engine fairings. You may want to contact BASC about these as I know you already have connections there.

Mil-HDBK-5 has some driven shear strength allowables. These fasteners are mainly used in high temperature applications on that program. Mostly they are wet installed but with a high temperature sealant (i.e. Red RTV Silicone Sealant). However, due to the heat affected areas of these components, no primer can be applied to the overall assembly.

If these fasteners are going through aluminum on the tail side, washers are usually installed on the tail to prevent damaging the aluminum during installation. This is accomplished by placing the washer on the rivet with a grommet to temporarily hold it in place during installation.

We never really had a problem installing these rivets. We did need a harder bucking bar for installing them. Tungtsen should work.

I do not know what application you are using this for but you can also want to look at the Monel rivets also. MS20470M, MS20426M, etc.
