I have an electronics enclosure that will be pole mounted and in direct sunlight. I have calculated an internal ambient termpature using a convection/conduction analog like that for a cylindrical tube (my enclosure is cylindrical).

I would like to take into account the heat gain due to solar radation, but am uncertain how to include this in my equation.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Ipix2004

I suggest that you insall a RADIATION SHIELD, this will reduce the direct sunlight on your enclosure. The shield should have about 1" air gap around you enclosure for air flow.

Go to in the "design corner\tools from coolingzone" section there is information, as well as a calculator, on solar radiation effects on electronics enclosures.
