The process unit is a wax hydrotreater. Is it possible that a TI unit located in a pipe connected longitudinaly in line with a process temperature-controlled electric heater bathed in hydrogen-rich gas (a diathermic gas) consistently shows higher temperatures than another TI located at less than 1 m distance farther along but doesn't "see" the heating electrical elements after an elbow turn? Both TIs and the pipe heat insulation are in good working order. Could heat radiation be superimposed to convection to explain the strange behaviour ?
