To make short story short, my boss mistakenly said yes to the service. He thought our main office was already enrolled. It is pretty much a listing website. But really, who would go to So 2 days after he realized it was a scam, he called them back and tell them to cancel it. They said no.. blah blah blah. Now we 4 months later, we still get invoices that we refuse to pay PLUS interest! Has anyone had this problem before?

I agree with Don.

A scam is where you don't get what you paid for. This sounds more like buyer's remorse or a bad decision on your boss' part.

If you buy something (say a HD TV), and then realise you don't need it (say, you don't have HD programming where you live), it is not a scam. It is a bad buy.

Sorry, but in this case, I would say you should have done the homework before buying.

i'd reckon that if you go to the website, and see your company listed, then you have to pay, and probably not renew when the annual renewal comes through.

btw, why is "the-internet-yellowpages" such a dumb idea ? the site looks as tho' its on the up-and-up.

The guy called like if we had to renew it. So he thought he was renewing it. Really.. how many hits do you think they have everyday? Who would type the-internet-yellowpages.com. I finish typing google.com before I find "-" after "the". Most yellow pages businesses are scams. Nobody owns the trademark of the 2 fingers symbol so pretty much anyone can start a company with that symbol. Like I said before, he thought it was the local yellow pages and its time to renew it.

CO,

Yup. It is too bad.

Next time.

I had the same thing happen to me!! They have called me asking if I wanted to 'renew' my subscription to the yellow pages, and they kept re-recording our conversation because I kept asking for clarification. I have contacted our lawyer and he said, unless you have signed something, they can't do anything about it. Report them to the BBB and don't pay them. After I told them I was sending them to my lawyers, they stopped calling me. Good luck!

Here's a tip:

Anytime ANYONE calls, and drops the words "yellow pages", ask them point blank if they are "the real yellow pages". If they are not, hang up. Most phone books aren't worth a listing if they aren't "the real yellow pages", or some other major provider. (like Verizon) I say this, because many times, the books you are "listed" in, may not even be distributed in your area. (maybe not even in your country)

I just went through this today, coincidentally enough.

solid7, thats the thing. Nobody has the trademark for the name Yellowpages. So who to say they are the real yellow pages?

Trademark doesn't matter. If they tell you the truth, you know right away. If they choose to lie to you, then you have only to inquire further to find them out. Besides, I was using "the real yellow pages" in the vernacular, not in the literal sense of the trademark.

My phone book, for example, lists the company who publishes the yellow pages. It is listed as "A publication of Hearst Holdings, Inc." Additionally, just ASK what phone book they publish in. Ours is "The Talking Phone Book", which IS trademarked.

It's not hard to find out who you are supposed to be talking to.
