testing for sheet piles

I am doing some research for sheet pile wall design with anchors/tie backs attached to a deadman that will hold back a slope on the verge of failure. What sort of parameters are needed to design a sheet wall and what lab testing could be run to obtain these parameters? The anchors are planned to go under a road every couple feet thru sand or clay. Thank you.

How are you proposing putting deadman in? If your retaining a slope that is on the verge of failure, won't you need to perform excavation on the slope to install deadman sheets? I would think tiebacks are your best bet....maybe im not understanding completely though.

I agree, AChwalibog. Digging to install tie rods and deadmen could cause big problems. I've also seen others make big, steep open cuts in landslide areas so that they could drill in soldier beams from subgrade, stack precast lagging panels, and then install tiebacks from the bottom up. This doesn't work too well either. Some people get lucky and they get the walls built. Others don't.
