I am trying to sweep a triangular cross section through a helix to put threads on my part. Ive not had problems in any of the previous versions doing this and since we've installed 2009 I am no longer able to do this. Ive been using all of the usual tricks that have worked in the past and I still have no luck. Has anyone else come across this problem???

Strange, when I set it to twist along path and have it twist by zero degrees I am able to get it to sweep... is anyone else having this issue?

Nope. Both cut and extrude sweeps work fine.

Which SP of SW09? Can you install the latest?

Have you tried a SW repair with the install disk?

Jeffroot,
If you working in Vista x64 and SW-2009 SP3 you will not be able to sweep. It is a bug and right now the only remedy is to go back to SP2.1 or work on x32 system.

I did not know that.

Not just Vista x64 apparently, XP x64 also.

It's strange though that it can still actually create the feature, albeit from the old code! I'm using XP Pro x64 (SP2) and just opened a part with a swept-cut "Thread" feature that I'd recently created on 2009 SP 2.1, it opened fine in SP 3.0. However, when I deleted the swept-Cut and then used the same Helix and Profile to apply a new Swept-Cut it failed to work, showing a rebuild errors message, "Sweep operation failed to complete". I Dismissed the message by closing the feature properties with the Red X and then hit the Undo button and it recreated the deleted 2.1 feature OK. Maybe it just uses a stored "undo" image and doesn't recreate it!

Im running XP 64 and SP3.0

Right now Im able to sweep threads by drawing the triangular section, then sweeping along a straight line drawn through the axis, using "twist along path" and specifying pitch by the number of twists along the line drawn through the axis...

My neighbor is running 32 bit, and when I send the file to him the sweep via helix does fine. If he sends it right back I get an error message..
