Hi,

The error is coming from the space in your disk and not from the contact. Try to run the analysis in a local machine with sufficient space.

thanks for the reply
as i was not able to run on local machine i switched to iterative solver which solved the problem

i have modelled two sheets which are welded together by spot weld my problem is when i apply load the sheets passes through each other which should not be the case and when i use mesh mating condition the surface move together but there is no stress on spot weld.....so help in choosing the right constrain so that sheets do not pass through each other and are pulled by spot weld only...or should i used surface contact in sim file.....

Hello!,
You do not say clearly which version are you using of NX NASTRAN but reading the listings it seems to me NX NASTRAN 7.5 running under NX AdvSim. In the past (many years ago) the iterative solver of NX NASTRAN did not supported surface-to-surface contact, then make your best to run the linear contact solution using the DIRECT SPARSE SOLVER, and make sure you have plenty of hard disk space as well as RAM memory!!.
Best regards,
Blas.

hello,

Version NX 7.5 - with iterative solver it solves infinitely even after convergence any idea..??

memory problem with DIRECT SPARSE SOLVER, as I have meachine and version constraint suggest some method to define surface contact, I have already tried mesh mating condition but results are not to good...

Hello!,
Here you are a video of how to define SPOT WELD models with FEMAP and NX NASTRAN:
