Unfortunately, I have taken the exam (SE II) several times and run into time issues, when time is running out I panic and then my exam goes to sh*%$. I am confused into what exactly do they (NCEES) want?
For example, a sample question states "design concrete beam for M+, M-, and V" so I calculate flexural reinforcement, top and bottom, and shear requirements. Also, in doing so, I check tension control requirements, all this by hand. Then I check all the min/max requirements for spacing and steel areas, etc.....as well as other requirements for distribution since it is a T-beam. In my profession this is "designing the beam".
Now, the solution they give only calculates capacity using flexural tables, never checks minimum requirements or provides spacings to show that all the prescriptive requirements are met. Their solution took about a page, mine took 3.
I mean.....WTF! Any advice?
