Stresses in Elbows and Bends (Lorenz Factor = Axial Stress)?

Apologies if my thinking seems a little fragmented on this. I don't have an engineering degree and everything I learn is self study from reading books and papers and practical application of installing composites repairs on pipes.

The Lorenz Factor is used to calculate the increase in stress in the intrados and reduction of stress in the extrados. I get this. My questions is whether this change in stress level is axial? I guess the internal pressure is effectively trying to straighten the elbow causing compression in the extrados and tension in the intrados?

Also with wrinkle bends I guess the same is true but there tends to be a stress intensifier at the apex of the wrinkle, or is stress intensifier the wrong term?

Thanks
