Hi all, I've a liquor heat exchanger (shell and tube type) that is going to be put offline and waiting to be put into the store until it is needed again. With the shell made of Carbon steel and the tube made of Duplex steel. What is a good method to keep the heat exchanger in a good state (ie, no corrosion inside)? Someone suggested the heat exchanger should be fill with nitrogen gas and attached a pressure guage to detect if any gas leak. I would like to know whether that's a good idea?

In addition to the N2, I recommend coating the liquor side with vegitable oil to further retard corrosion.
I would think that when you place the unit back into service you would steam clean it anyway.

Good Luck
