What is the differance between a steel that has an SA
designation or an A designation

The A designation is from the ASTM Standards, such as A36. The SA designation is from ASME standards, such as SA36. The standards are often identical, but not always. ASTM actually develops the standards, and ASME adopts them, sometimes with modifications.
 
Are the SA designations only for ASME BPVC, or all of ASME?
