Hi
I'm using SWT ('coif' and 'sym') to analyse model amplitudes of a vibrating beam with a small crack in it. I have been able to successfully use the plot of the detail difference coefficient to detect the location of the damage. However, both my approximation coefficient and detail coefficient plots show spikes at the ends of the signal.
The detail coefficient spikes are considerably larger than the deviation in signal caused by the presences of the crack. This results in the crack information being hidden due to plot scale. In addition, I have been unable to successfully de-noise the signal without removing the crack information.
Any help on eliminating this spikes or information on what might be causing them would be great.
Thanks.
