Standard or Recommended Practice for Testing Process Measurement Devices???

Is there any code, standard, or recommended practice (API, IEEE, NFPA, NETA, ISA, etc) dealing with the testing of processes measurement and control devices such as level transmitters and/or switches, flow transmitters, pressure transmitters and/or switches, etc.???

I'm trying to determine at what intervals we should be testing/calibrating such instruments. I know we must test Emergency Shutdowns annually but what about other devices...what's mandatory or recommended by a respected/informed organization?

That really depends on what the manufacturer's recommendations are, doesn't it? That would then be followed by what your process reliability requirements are, i.e., how long does it take in your process before you notice a measurement error and how much would that cost you? If reliability requirements are stringent, then you could possibly look at installing redundant instruments.
