Please take a look at the file that is attached. I have a K-Frame where the cross beam is subject to both axial compression and bendings in stong axis as well as weak axis. Do the sag braces act as braces in the plane of bending? Using AISC 13th Ed. App. 6, how do you check if the sag braces have sufficient stiffness and strength to provide brace points? All the stability experts here, please help!!
Member sizes are as follows.
Cross Beam: W14x90
Sag brace: 2L6x4x3/8 SLBB
Vert. strut: L2.5x2.5x3/8
Columns: W14x145
ps: Does anyone have a good idea on how to analyze this type of structure using Direct Analysis Method?
