Soil plastic modulus

Anyone familiar with the term "plastic modulus" as it refers to soil? I've never run across that term but suspect it's simply a different term for something more commonly used.

Don't recall ever hearing of it. Where and how was the term used, and by whom?

Do they perhaps mean resilient modulus? Is this a pavement related application?

i did figure out that it's a term related to steel. and the question was posed by a structural. i came to the conclusion that they're playing around with adapting structural software for geotechnical applications (i don't know this for certain though...is just a guess on my part). however, i envision that "plastic modulus" is not really applicable to the vast majority of most soils which would probably explain why there's not a million hits when you google it. the closest term i could intuitively relate was something more like a resilient modulus.

msucog...I agree...the plastic modulus we use in structural has no relevance to a soil modulus of any sort. Soil doesn't have a "plastic" range in the same sense as the structural "plastic" range.

If you're right about them trying to adapt structural software to accommodate soil parameters directly, they are probably in for a surprise. We can model soil response in structural analysis software, but we usually do so by using springs or similar tools to replicate soil behavior.

Yeah, the only term I could equate to it as well was resilient modulus..thus my question above about pavements.
