For experimental purposes, I'd consider useing perlite under a primary slab that has a 'foaming agent' in the mix to reduce heat loss. On top of this would be poured a more conventional slab. The perimeter of the project would the be treated with rigid foam. We're not held to code for projects of 100 sq ft or less and am interested in cost savings. If this wouldn't work ... what might? Thanks

Why not just use a rigid insulation board like DOW-SM? Then you would have to experiment with the concrete.
