Hello,
I am trying to simulate a pinned connection and was wondering what the best way to do this is. I have tried the cylindrical coords method of constraining the hole and beams to points and the points rigidly connected to the surface of the hole for the pin. Neither of these have produced the desired result. The problem is that when i view the v.m. stress or the max prin. stress there seems to be a shearing action on the opposite end of the hole where the pin would contact and bear on the hole, as if the pin is welded to the hole. How can I simulate a connection that would include the transfer of the load from the pin to the hole and also allow for rotation at this connection? I am also aware of the bearing load feature and this is not applicable to my analysis because I am trying to analyze the structure as a whole.
