hi, i am preparing a design specification/criteria for our new project.
for shielding effect of multi-frame structures (e.g., a very long piperack), i am looking for a shielding effect formula to be applied. i was away from design work for 8 years. i remember using the shielding effect formula way back 15 years ago when i was working for oil/gas projects using both ASCE and BS-CP3, but i could not find such provisions in ASCE 7 now. tables 6-9 and 6-10 of ASCE 7-95 shows the coefficients used, but no procedures explained. this is clearly explained in BS-CP3, Chap. V, but that code is not applicable to this project.
im still looking for it, ill be glad if someone can share some thoughts.
