Greetings from England

A specification document from American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) gives seismic loading for proposed composite tanks as;

Aa = 0.2 and Av = 0.2

Can anyone give the units for Aa and Av

And the context in which they would be used.

Many thanks

Ed

I'm sure you will get a better response to your question on the structural engineering forum.

Dear Ed,

If you undertaking a seismic evaluation of an FRP tank, I would suggest you go to ASME RTP-1 where the hard work has been done for you. Here you should be putting in your accelerations depending on the seismic contouring of the area the tank is going to be placed.

Not sure where the tank is going but I would also check out the Building codes.. there are tank related calculations there as well but I agree with Oceania.. RTP-1 is your best bet..
