Folks,
I am a maintenance engineer in an oil refinery.
One of our crude distillation units is currently under turnaround and the fractionator column had undergone a major disruption in operation sometime ago.
More trays have been damaged than we expected so we had to straighten/repair some of the stainless steel bubble cap trays.
However the trays cannot be straightened perfectly and it is not very difficult to pass the leak test using only the fibreglass tape gasket between bolted sections.
Any recommendations regarding a sealant that can be used along with the gasket that would assist in minimizing the leakage???
In the past we used copaltite but that has since beened restricted.
