I want to know about seal weld and where it is used to.

It is normally done for leak tightness.

For instance when thermal oil is used, the roller expanded joint will normally not be able to seal the tube-to-tubesheet joint of a heat exchanger.

A seal weld provides resistance to leaking only and does not provide "strength". Another example besides that given by ksnar would be a threaded pipe joint which is welded to stop/minimize leaking. If that weld were to fail completely, the joint would still be maintained by the threads. Gerald Austin

Not only is it used to seal things in, it is used to seal things out also, for instance to prevent crevice corrosion between two peices of metal in contact with eachother.

A seal weld does not have strength because of its size (too small). As stated in the previous post, in corrosive environments, it seals the crevace between two pieces, and is a very good base for paint. Have you ever noticed where in a corrosive environment you get the first corrosion, on the sharp edges, and in the crevaces.
