Hi,

I have a situation where I have to add a school crossing. I have to add the "SCHOOL" marking with the white line above and below it (you've all seen it). My question is, do you just put that marking on the through lanes, or on the turn lanes also?

School zone markings are covered in chapter 7 pages 7C-2 & 7C-3 in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

In general word messages are only one lane wide. The SCHOOL message is allowed to be two lanes wide.

If traffic in the turning lane crosses the marked school crossing, I would install a word message in that lane.
