Sch. 40 PVC and Sodium Hypochlorite

I am having a problem with injecting 12% sodium hypochlorite into sch. 40 pvc pipe. It causes a black residue to develop, and cloggs all of my monitoring ports. Mixing it with 70deg. water. Piping vendor says that going to schedule 80 is better, but didn't give me a good reason. Does anyone have any suggestions?
