Hi there,

We are looking at using a low profile encoder for use on a product that needs IPX1 certification and resistance to water ingress from spill testing.

ELMA make a Type E33 that seems to be good.

Does anyone know of other companies that do ones with internal o-ring sealing?

These are good because you can seal up against the stationary part of the shaft (you don't need to worry about water ingress through the shaft because of the o-ring).

I release this is a fairly old thread. But just encase you or someone else is looking for encoders, I would suggest the Grayhill 62S line of optical encoders:

I am not sure if they mention it in the datasheet, but I know from their rep that these can be purchased with the shaft seal.
