I am just curious if there is a group / person who reviews geotechnical reports for free as a way of sharing their experience and knowledge on this forum. Please advise.

Ron is a man of few words - in this case word. I prefer longer answers - "Absolutely NO!"

Hey, wait a second.

There have been groups of geotechs in the past that voluntarily agreed to share reports for general evaluation purposes. Peer review i think it was called.

we generally charge for peer review and all reports are peer reviewed before going to the client. It is done in house. peer review of a research paper might be different. I have not heard of this practice being offered on this forum

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback and advice. At least we now know the verdict on this. But oldestgyr if you do know of groups that do so in other forums, please share.

My memory is not the best at this age, but I believe the group (active about 1970) is now either gone or name changed. I can't recall the exact name. Maybe some other person can. It's function was an effort to cut down on the legal claims against geo techs and it accomplished the goal, reducing insurance costs.. In any case contact this (link) group with your question. It would seem that this group would be best able to answer your question. Academy of Geo-Professionals, an offshoot of American Society of Civil Engineers.

Yes, OG...ASFE had a peer review program, but is was not intended to review for projects....just as a peer review for internal QA purposes.
