Here is what I want: a constant strain relief on a flexible cable(something like a retractable clothes line). I have seen them, not sure what the actual name of the product. Here is the application. Moving horizontal platens in a hot plate welder. I am going to use turck highflex cable for the multibox attached to the removible welder nest. I am tring to make easier and faster for the setup guys. The only problem is the available space. Hoping someone here might have used something like this before. I want to attach the retractable relief from the top to keep a caonstant tension on the cable to prevent wear and crushing the cable. Thanks ahead of time for your help!

"Tool balancers" offset most of the weight of pneumatic tools on a production line. They are typically built with a steel cable wound on a reel, preloaded by a constant- torque spring.

Also look at "festooning systems", used for supporting electrical cables that must follow horizontally moving things like traveling cranes.
