Dear all,
I’m currently using Compress to perform the reinforcement calculations of a hill-side opening of a core on a cylindrical shell. The shell design pressure is much lower than the nozzle design pressure, so I deselected the option “Use parent component’s Design P” in the Nozzle Calculation Option Dialog and I provided the nozzle design pressure.
The problem is that when I run the program, the calculation of the shell required thickness tr as per UG37(a) in the reinforcement calculations of the nozzle is done by using the nozzle design pressure and I would expect Compress to use the shell design pressure. In this case, since the nozzle design pressure is used and it’s higher than the shell pressure, the required shell thickness becomes so high that it can’t contribute to reinforce the nozzle (A1=0).
Another thing is the area available in inward nozzle, which I think it should take into account the required thickness of the internal projection of nozzle wall and subtract it from the nominal thickness of internal projection in the calculation of A3.
Please, find attached part of the report calculation.
Thanks in advance.
