Print efficiently without bursting all instances

Hi

My problem: I have a drawing wich printing file size is 1.3 GB. That explodes all my print drivers and it won't print, besideds that it would take forever to load the printer with this file. Anyway when I burst all instances in the layout the file size is 10MB what is no Problem at all and everything works fine and fast.
But I do not like to burst the instances of a drawing.
My Question: Is there an other possibility to minimize the print size?

-keep a latest copy of KC on your computer....I think they might have fixed that in 6.3 (and later) versions

-make pdfs, and then print them (maybe???)
