Hi,
I'm looking for publications, by-laws or web-sites on traffic volume before an actual count is done. For example, I'd like to know what is the traffic volume of a particular venue assuming the traffic generation is due to the premise alone. What are the criteria in determining the traffic volume? For example a high school or a mall, what are the factors involved? Is it related to the population, occupancy, total area? built-up area, zoning etc. i.e an emparical formula or tabulated data based on past traffic counts. P/S: I'm looking for ADT & peak hour traffic

thanx

You need to get ahold of ITE's (Institute of Traffic Engineers) publication for trip generation rates. This is commonly used for predicting traffic generated from a multitude of facilities, and is reported based on square footage, acreage, employees, students, rooms, beds, etc. as appropriate for type. It has peak hour for weekday and weekends. I don't know of a website with this information but you could try a search.

first i will like to know have u read any book on traffic survey or planning. L.R.Kadiyali is good book to understand traffic studies. but for practical examples u must go through the project going on.

can someone send me the latest trip generation rate for residential developments? Single Famile Attached units and detached units?
