We have a situation where well water is used as a potable water source. Copper analyses (EPA 6010) for copper are consistently ND (below 20 micrograms per liter) at the well head.
There is a copper distribution system between the well head and point of use.
Copper at the drinking water point of use typically contains both dissolved and total copper, 18-20micrograms per liter and 40 micrograms per liter respectively.
What causes the potable water to corrode the copper piping? pH 7.0+/-, DO and other dissolved gases unknown, hardness unknown - probably high.
Is there an index or some other quantifiable parameter that can be used as a control parameter?
