Hi, I removed vinyl decals from a 20 yr old motorcycle fairings. Vinyl came off with hairdryer. Left adhesive residue on panel.
Panel is plastic and is original, painted by suzuki. Decals were put on over paint and not top coated.
I have so far tried, petrol, acetone, brake fluid, lighter fluid, 3m adhesive remover, holts tar and gum remover, goo gone, oven cleaner, wd40, carb cleaner, white spirit,
I managed to soak the glue with the 3m product and scrape the heavy glue off with a credit card, but im still left with a thin film of glue, which will not scrape, peel or push off. also tried heating it, didnt help.
I brought the bike to a bodyshop and they could only tell me to try the same products that i had tried.
Any help guys please, at my wits end. I dont really want to sand and paint the fairing, the paintwork is in good condition.
Thanks
Mitch
