Hi all,

I'm really a PC programmer with a ... hard task?

A small company that distributes pipe and fittings for the oil industry hired me to develop a program that will handle their quotations, invoice, etc.

My question is this: Is there a standard code that will allow me to identify an specific material, like for example
"Casing 6-5/8" J-55 24PPF BTC R2 API 5CT"

I´m completely lost in this, so any hint will be highly appreciated,

Thanks a lot in advanced,
Mario Osorio

"Plagiarism is the greatest form of flattery!" Take a look at how a large pipe and fitting distributor handles its stuff. Create yourself a user id at and see how they code their products.

nimbiotics,

I have almost same problem. I may ask you that if you can share your experience on the way to reach a coding methodology of equipments/materials. What is your status. I have a coding teqnique for downhole pumps which I found from an API code (spec 11 AX). But still I need an unique coding system for all kind of material and purpose.

Thanks in advance,
