PE Test Piping & Fluid Mechanics 3

I am planning on taking the Mechanical PE test this Oct. and I have been looking for a quick ref. sheet or book for piping & fluid mechanics. I have found one for HVAC see below web page. Does anyone know of a web page or a good book for it?

I just studied Lindberg and did fine in the afternoon Thermo and Fluid Mechanics section (I'm not sure what you mean by "Piping and Fluid Mechanics", has the test changed?).

I also primarily studied Lindeburg for the Thermal and fluids systems depth section. As to books, Cameron Hydraulic Data or Crane flow of fluids through valves, fittings and pipe have excellent data (technical paper 410).

As to the quick reference sheet, the best thing to do is make your own. As you are studying, make note of formulas or data you use often. Put this into a one or two page quick reference sheet that you can refer to easily when working problems. For a number of the problems on the exam, you will probably just need this one sheet and won't have to flip back and forth through a book to find an equation or constant.

Another good place for reference equations is the NCEES-supplied handbook for the FE exam. You can download a pdf from the NCEES website and equations are subdivided by section.

I don't know if it has changed, but NCEES used to preclude bringing loose-leaf binders (and loose pages) to the test. I got around this by taping my quick reference sheet into the front of one of the bound books that I was planning to take. I wanted to take the NCEES FE reference, but I could only find it in loose leaf. I guess I could have takent it to Kinko's to have it bound, but I didn't think of it.

You can purchase, and have them mail you, a bound copy of the FE refrence. You can also punch it and take it in a 3-ring binder.

But I don't know how usefull that would be for the PE. I took the thermal and fluid afternoon and all took with me was the Lindeburg reference.

Crane Manual #410 is the most comprehensive guide for Fluid Mechanics problems encountered in the PE.

I used it to solve all of the problems I needed in 1975 and still use it for most everyday probelms.

(My God....am I getting old...)
