Is it possible to make a part family that is also a deformable element? Example various pipe OD and wall thickness that make up part families but when adding the part to the assembly be able to also define the length as required(deformable). I wanted to add this part to the reuse library. I seems to get one or the other but not both options. I'm running NX 10 natively. Thanks in advance for your help.

I've search the forums and looks like the closest way to accomplish this is create a "model template" of the item. Anyone else agree?

In partfamilies you control the different values with expressions or Attributes.
Deformable parts, although they are also using expressions will not accept another expression or formulas as value for a driving expression.

You can type them in in the deformable fields but the feature will take the value it has at that time. The formula or the expression name (reference) will be removed.
Therefor it will not adapt to the new expression value created by the partfamily
