Is there a patch to make Microstation V8 pan like in AutoCAD, ie hold mouse button and drag the drawing around.

Please help the AutoCAD user forced into V8 and in extreme pain, torture, etc!!! At least for a while...

Thanks.

Just hold down the SHIFT key and left mouse button at the same time.

I know that trick broekie but that does not even come close to the ease, feel and speed of direct pan. Thanks for your tip anyway.

I feel your pain Torec - there are many AutoCAD features that nice and easy that do not exist intuitively in Microstation. The method broekie suggests is the only one I know of...

Hi Dirtguy, please do not get me wrong. I feel the Microstation is powerfull, feature loaded tool. The last thing i want to do is bash one or the other. I just wish i could combine some features of the two. But that's like asking to use a car to fly from a to b.

I've been using AutoCAD for year and a half and now the Microstation for two years, so i am not exactly new to either. I feel the MStation is a more powerfull (especially in 3D) (but if you want a 3D there is Inventor) but with some bread and butter stuff the Acad wins hands down. Unfortunetly it's the bread and butter stuff that you use all the time while more fancy stuff is something you use only ocassionaly.

And after all this time i still miss the Acad one mouse button panning ability. I also miss the display of a full file path on top of my drawing. That alone is such an idiosyncrasy it is beyond belief. Every other program, be it a word processing, spreadheet or whatever always displays full file path.

This is turning into a bashing. Sorry did not mean to...

Your last statement concerning the file path is a good one. However, my Word and Excel files do not have the full file path shown at the top, only the file name. is that a setting somewhere?

Sorry broekie, i got carried away. It shows i do not use word & excel very much. I suppose i got used to a file path in Acad and wish everything else does the same...

At the same token i miss the days of programming in DOS...

I feel like an dynosaur!

Torec,

When you select the pan icon, a dialogue box title pan view should open with an option to turn on/off dynamic display. If you click that on, then your panning action will work like AutoCads.
