I have problem with typical carbon steel fittins (A105).
These fitting come from the supply house dipped in primer to prevent rusting. I want to weld the fittings into a solvent line but I am concerned that the paint will flake off the fittings and travel down stream. Does anyone have a slick way to remove the paint from the fittings or have you been able to order the fittings paint free? The fittings are 1/2" to 2" and only total about 100 so it is not exactly a large custom mill job. Any ideas?

Thanks

I am looking into that as well. I am thinking solvent wash to remove what can come off easy, then soda blasting, then final rinse. I was just wondering if anyone had a work around than mechanically cleaning each piece.

Most lines are flushed prior to being put into service to remove debris.

tr6 that would work if the paint came off right away, I suspect it will be a fairly slow degradation process that will feed me little paint flakes for a few months.

Call around and see if anyone has a Vapor Degreaser. In the mean time, see what solvent(s) that the paint responds to. A normal booth will take 1/4 to maybe all of your fittings. If needed, run them thru a second time, when they have cooled. Only 2-5 gallons of solvent will be needed in the booth, it recirculates.
