normalizing of 6061 T6 Al after welding

I have been told that by exceeding a welding temperature of 250-300 degrees F, that I have normalize the 6061 T6 AL, thus causing it to become very ductile....I.E. rockwell hardness of around 35. any suggestions would be appreciated. I have called out a 1/8" fillet weld...I suppose an intermittent weld would help. Need to keep the heat out.

Normalizing only the weld area will be difficult. In general, the approach used for this and similar aluminum alloys is to compensate for the weld effect in the design, e.g., use a lower allowable stress. Check with the Aluminum Association.
