My employer has asked me to design a piece of software capable of calculating noise (in decibels) in orifice flow meters. I have noticed a few companies have comprised programs that evaluate a value of noise in throttling valves. Obviously initial pressure drops when a valve is opened cause cavitation to occur and is the main culprit of noise on both systems. I'm quite switched on in the field of fluid meachanics, but this problem covers a wide span of engineering fields and 'sound' is a different kettle of fish for me. I was wondering if anyone has tackled this problem previously or has any suggestions so i may moved forward in my work. Thanks
