Afternoon all,
I have a NORYL plastic piece with a .070 thick wall. This is a cosmetic surface on one side opposite of where the inserts will heat staked or vibrated in from. I am following the insert manufactures recommendation for wall thickness around the insert. Thing is at the base of the hollowed out boss I have a thick material condition that will probably give me sink on my cosmetic surface due to the inserts required wall thickness. I spoke with the insert people and they said the numbers given are just a rule of thumb. They said I can go smaller based on plastic material used. I am going to call SABIC and see what they say but would like to get your guys'opinion on wall thickness around an insert for NORYL.
See attached.
Thanks
Sid
