Does anyone know of vendors that can supply padmount transformer 1500 KVA, 34.5KV delta - 480Y/277 secondary, copper both windings, padmount or substation type will do? We are trying to support the relief efforts in Haiti. This transformer will power up the berthing barge(suppose to come in the next 2 weeks).

Thanks in advance...

There are many like GE, ABB, Cooper Industries but having one this size on shelf is unlikely. New orders will have several weeks of lead time. Also check with local electrical wholesalers, they may have more contacts.

Utility companies are most likely to have some in their back yard as spares, just a thought, but I am not sure they will part with them.

or you need to look for people who deal with used electrical equipment and refurbishment.

Also you may want to be a bit flexible and look for a couple of different sizes to make up the needed capacity. Imprefect but may work in the circumstances.

34.5 kV t0 480 V is not a common pad-mount configuration.

I'd suggest calling a few local utilities if they use 34.5 kV as a sub-distribution voltage.

Where have you checked so far?

Check with Cooper, Howard, Pauwels (now CG Power Systems) local sales people as well. They may be able to track one down.

You might have to series up a couple of transformers to get the voltages you need. But also, you could probably have a 1500 kVA trailer-mounted generator there faster than a transformer. Check commercial rental outfits as well as National Guard, etc.

Rafiq has the solution. A diesel is much more likely to be available off-the shelf and it can be moved closer to the relief centers and the wiring up is much easier.

Best wishes in your efforts.

Generators need fuel - how easy will it be to feed a 1.5MW set in a place where fuel seems to be at a real premium?

Is the 34.5 system 4 wire....if so a Y-Y padmount might be more readily available. I might even know where a 2500 is sitting.

Do you really need a 1500 or will something smaller do the job?

Let us know!

Also, I am being told that the Dominican Republic is using the Love A Child ministry property outside of Port au Prince and promising plenty of fuel, so a generator might be possible.
