We are currently looking for a thermal insulator board material to handle 300-400F. This material is required to be FDA approved. Would like the material to have some impact resistance, mainly not to flake or chip from the material edges.

Thank You [sig][/sig]

Check with Dow Chemical ( and see if their extruded polystyrene boards will work. Your temp. might be a bit high for polystyrene, but check it out. You can get various penetration resistances in extruded poly. There are several other insulations that might work, but don't know about their FDA approval. Take a look at cellular glass, also. Try Nomex material, dont remember who makes it but is common. Should take 400F easily. Usually comes in cloth material.
