I am looking for processing data/tips on processing PET preforms for bottle production.
I am looking at low volume Preform manufacture for decorative bottles.
With the trials so far on a very standard moulding machine I have experienced problems with voids, distortion and white streaking.
My understanding was that PET was a stiff semi-crystaline material that required high temperature for plasticising, high screw torque for screw back and high injection pressures. All this making the machine requirements for processing quite demanding, how dificult is it to processes material for this application on a standard machine?
Can anyone assist with typical processing data and explain about the material characteristics that apply to PET prforms in respect of a clear semi crystalline material.
Thank you all
