Hi,

I am trying to research some areas of Motorcycle Design/Engineering, it's for a personal project not work related.

Can anybody recommend any good literature/texts and where I can get them from? The more techincal the better!

Specifically geometry, chassis & materials would be useful but anything covering dynamics etc would help.....I think!

Cheers,
Gary

Check the SAE publications on their website.

I've heard good things about Tony Foale's "Motorcycle Handling and Chassis Design". Looks pretty easy to read. Might not be as technical as you want.

If you're a ressourceful guy, you can find copies online.

As a motorcycle engineer I can recommend Tony Foale's book.
Also try Motorcycle Dynamics by Vittore Cossalter & Motorcycle Engineering by Phil Irving (old but excellent).

I own all the books mentioned above.

Motorcycle Dynamics is the most technical. I haven't read it yet.

I also recommend.

The Racing Motorcycle: A Technical Guide for Constructors, Volume 1 by John Bradley. Volume 2 is more construction oriented but has some interesting stuff on materials, although British oriented. In the states these books available at Powells.

The MC Chassis Design List is also a good resource with contributers like Tony Foale.
