Minimum Nozzle Projection for FVC 'F' / FCI 'E'

Tom,

I am using Compress Build 7110 and noticed that Compress does not calculate the correct minimum nozzle projection for FVC 'F'/FCI 'E' nozzles. Instead of calculating the projection up to the face of flange, Compress calculates the projection at the corner of the barrel and the transition taper. My Compress model is in SI units. Has this been fixed in Compress Build 7200?

I checked if this was happening for Compress models in the U.S. customary units and it was just working fine. Projections were calculated to the face of flange.

the calculations are for code purposes and the distance at corner is where the reinforcement is coming from.

Now you can take that distance that compress gives add up the taper, nut relief, flange and raised face and get the projection very easily.

this needs to be checked to make sure you have projection to get the "H" dim in.

Coming up with the projection is not the issue. The issue is Compress models FVC 'F'/FCI 'E' nozzles that are longer than required when the minimum nozzle projection (value in Set Mode Options > Defaults > Nozzles) is not met.

Try this in Compress in SI units:
1. In Set Mode Options, set the Minimum Nozzle Projection to 150 mm.
2. Model a 3000 mm O.D. cylinder
3. Model a 20" Class 900 nozzle (Type 9, FVC 'F'/FCI 'E') with a projection of 1850 mm.

Tell me if Compress will model the nozzle at 1850 mm projection.

To be able to model the nozzle at 1850 projection, I have to go back to the Set Mode Options and lower the value for the minimum nozzle projection.

For FVC 'F'/FCI 'E', Compress calculates the nozzle projection from the shell OD up to the barrel portion only, instead of the face of flange. And I believe this occurs in models that are in SI or MKS units.
