Hi all,

Is it possible to calculate maximum strain only in one direction? I think maximum strain considers every direction in a material but I only want to see if my laminate fails in the fiber direction. For example, I need to specify the strain strengths in all directions to be able to plt maximum strain but I only want the failure criteria in one direction.

Anyone who knows how?

You could set up a local coordinate system and output strain in the coordinate directions.
An alternative would be to output the strain components in the global coordinate system and do a coordinate rotation.

Maybe you missunderstood my question. I want to plot the maximum strain failure criterion in just one direction. But when i plot it in Ansys it calculates the maximum strain in ALL directions but i just want the failure criteria in ONE directions =)

I think that you can do that with ETABLEs. I haven't worked with composites much, but ETABLES allow you to plot the element outputs.
