Maximum steam tracer lenght

Dear All Experts,

Is there any criteria for Maximum Steam tracer length for 1 inch diameter tracer length with respect to Steam Supply pressure. If so please provide. I came across 120 meter of maximum tracer length. but did not know the basis. Please help

Perry 7th edition, on page 10-135 ( chapter on process piping) states max length of 150ft for 1/2 inch, and 60ft for 3/8 inch. No info on 1 inch steam tracer. No basis stated here either.

You probably need to contact a steam trace vendor eg

My guess is that this is the most practical length possible using saturated steam at reasonable pressures where a leak won't kill the person standing next to the steam line....

The velocity at the far end will have a lot to do with it as the steam condenses and then you get two phase flow unti ti gets to your condensate trap a the end of the pipe.

120m is quite along way for a steam trace pipe.
