make wall swing out and up

I'm building a fort for my son. I would like one wall to be free accept hinged to a beam above it. I would like the wall to be able to swing out and up on the hinges. To make it easier, I thought I'd anchor a cable to the front bottom, bring the cable up over the beam above the wall and down the other side with some 30 pound weights at the end.
Will this work well?
