We have to machine for the first time gears in ductile iron.
The gears must have a quality class 10 per AGMA after shaving.

Can someone give me tips about :

+ is it necessary to heatthreath the gears before machining?

+ What cutting conditions (hobbing + shaving) we have to use to get a quality class 10 after shaving?

+ What experience do you have to use multi-thread hobs to get a quality class 10 AGMA after shaving?

Spicer,
You have to be more specific.
You can hob an agma 10 gear but
it depends on the size dp etc. and
also the cross section of the part.
The largest component is the quality
of the cutter and how accurate you
can center the part while it is being
machined. Looking at tce charts, the
greatest component is runout and is
basically dependent on the pitch diameter.
You can probably shape an agma 10 gear
if you have quality shaper cutters and the
feed is fine enough. Have fun.
