Lubricating Ballscrews 1

I am using a ballscrew with nylon wipers on the nut and am having problems with lubrication. The nut is rotating, and the process this machine is used in does not like daily shutdowns to grease the nut.

Can you apply grease directly to the shaft and get adequate lubrication? Would I have to remove the wiper from the nut?

Yes - apply lube directly to the screw where the nut will move into the greased section. Remove the brush. Look for a PAO synthetic grease, which will give you good service. Could you use a gravity feed of small amounts of pressure fed grease?
