Lower Level Component Assembly Motion at next assembly

So I must be mixing CAD systems but from some reason I thought this worked before...
If I create a lower level component that has freed degrees of freedom, so for example a spherical bearing where the ball can rotate about its center, and assemble that bearing assembly into another assembly...

Can I assemble a pin to the ball in the bearing and move the pin with the constraint that it's assembled to the ball which will rotate about its center.
I've done this in the past building complex motion assemblies but I must be mixing this up with Pro-E and Creo. Can I do this in NX? At the moment it won't let me move the pin and the ball appears to be locked up. Does the freed degrees of freedom not carry to the next assembly level?

Using NX 10

Nevermind. My brain returned to it's normal self and reminded me of Position Override for the lower level components.
I can now move the model as I thought I could.
